Trombonist/composer Brian Drye is a modern musician for whom jazz is but one ingredient in his music.

Brian Drye is a world-renowned trombonist and pianist based in New York City. “An adept composer with an ear for melody” (All About Jazz), Drye’s artistry effortlessly bridges traditional mastery with fearless modern experimentation. He has performed and recorded with the Hank Roberts Sextet, Billy Martin’s Wicked Knee, The Wood Brothers, Steven Bernstein, Slavic Soul Party, John Batiste and Frank London’s Klezmer Brass All-Stars. His debut as a leader, Bizingas, was hailed as “one of the best introductions to a new band” by The New York Times. Drye has spent the last two decades exploring and performing a vast array of music including jazz of all eras, rock, funk, salsa, gospel, reggae, balkan, Mexican Banda, Brazilian Forro and Klezmer. In 2024 Brian was recognized as a rising star trombonist by Downbeat magazine and is the original Broadway cast trombonist for the Grammy® and Tony® Award-winning show, Hadestown as well as the trombonist for the off-broadway production of Hadestown at the New York Theater Workshop.
