THE DEBUT ALBUM FROM TWELVE 20 SIX NOW AVAILABLE ON NCM EAST RECORDS

NCM East Records is pleased to announce the release of the self-titled Twelve 20 Six debut album. With this release, the six members of Twelve 20 Six have truly proven their ability to take advantage of the information technology of their youth and assimilate a broad range of approaches to music making. The ensemble is heavily collaborative and embraces a wide variety of American musical traditions of the last century. Although their music pours out of a highly improvising mindset, extensive arrangements have become a staple for Twelve 20 Six, drawing their audiences into an aural world of rich and varied textures. The highly composed elements of their sound are counterbalanced by psychedelically romantic solo and group improvisations. The end result, as realized on this new release and in live performances, strikes an exciting balance between emotion, intellect and humor. This release appropriately documents the gamut they boldly run, from Prokoviev’s ballet, to Americana jazz, to backbeats, to out-and-out mayhem.

About Twelve 20 Six:
The spawn of a badly ventilated, dank New York boiler room/rehearsal space, Twelve20 Six gathered in late 1999 to hammer out some rather extensive instrumental arrangements for drums, acoustic bass, guitar, tuba, trombone, saxophone and assorted noise generators. Over the course of two years they have moved their operation to fill up slightly more sanitary, public (yet still below ground) venues for new improvised music. The band members are: Lori Bingel (tuba), Brian Drye (trombone), Dan Fabricatore (acoustic bass), Matt Glassmeyer (tenor saxophone & sampler), Greg Joseph (drums & percussion), and Sean Moran (guitar).
